University Medical Center – Rizk Hospital

University Medical Center – Rizk Hospital aspires to become a leading academic medical center in the Arab world by delivering outstanding, innovative and patient-centered care.  Situated in the heart of Beirut’s vibrant Achrafieh neighborhood, UMC-RH is the primary teaching hospital for LAU’s schools of medicine, nursing and pharmacy.

Since acquiring the hospital in 2009, the hospital leadership has undertaken extensive renovations, and this work is ongoing.  Already in place are renovations of the OB/Gyn wing, a new Dialysis Center, Dermatology Clinic and Vericose Vein Clinic, plus a Radiology Center that includes some of the most sophisticated imaging equipment in the world.

Upgrading of patient rooms to U.S. standard is well underway, and ultimately UMC-RH will have 250 beds with the most modern equipment and patient-monitoring facilities available.  The primary goal, in addition to offering the best possible patient care, is to bring the hospital to the standards required for Joint Commission International accreditation.

Upgrades have also included an advanced interactive technology infrastructure, enabling the installation of a highly sophisticated Hospital Information System that integrates and automates clinical and administrative processes.

In short, UMC-RH is undergoing dramatic transformation both structurally and culturally.  Thousands of hours of staff training have already occurred, putting into place the same multidisciplinary approach to patient care that is central to the curriculum of the medical, nursing and pharmacy schools.

With this transformation come a multitude of opportunities for visionary donors.  Gifts can help renovate patient rooms, create new centers of excellence, attract world-renowned physicians, and purchase state-of-the-art equipment that will help diagnose, treat, and heal our patients.  Additional giving opportunities include:
