In just a few short years, the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine has established itself in the top tier of the region’s medical schools. We have attracted faculty from such renowned institutions as Harvard University, Baylor University, Washington University, and Methodist Hospital. In addition, we are forging vibrant partnerships with North American medical and academic centers, providing our graduates with outstanding opportunities for career development.
With the opening of the Chagoury Health Sciences Center (housing Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy), we now also have a unique learning environment designed to inspire collaboration among LAU’s various health programs.
Among the opportunities for donors to the School of Medicine are the following:
1) Scholarships: More than half of our medical students depend on financial assistance in order to continue their studies. Gifts of scholarship funds in any amount are welcomed. Endowed scholarship gifts beginning at $25,000 are especially important.
2) Research: A truly great medical school combines teaching, patient care, and research. The School of Medicine needs support to strengthen its research component. With faculty experts in neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, biochemistry, infectious diseases and community health, we already have the expertise to conduct important research. All that is lacking is funding, and gifts of $25,000 or more will make a critical difference.
3) A number of important facilities within the new health sciences center are available to donors as naming opportunities. Perhaps the premier space is the medical library, which is available for a gift of $5 million. Other spaces, including classrooms to laboratories, may also be named for gifts ranging from $50,000.
